Roastbeef and its policies have been designed
for our users - Roastbeef is a place to rekindle
old friendships, find out what people you have lost
touch with are doing and to reminisce.
In order to make contact with old friends and
build the community, you have to provide certain
data. These are your name, the years you attended
the university or school you are registering for
(or the years you lived in the town you are
registering with), and your e-mail address. You
also have the option to leave notes about what you
are doing now (or indeed anything else you want
your old friends to know about), to leave details
of which campus and course you attended (with
universities) or which road you lived on (in the
case of Hometowns) and to join in our message
boards. In order to protect you from SPAM
(unsolicited e-mail), your message must not include
your e-mail address and no posts to message boards
must contain any email addresses. You are the only
person that can adjust this information, including
your e-mail address, by going to "My
Profile".
While you do need to provide this basic data,
Roastbeef respects your privacy and will never
disclose your details without prior permission.
When you have registered as alumni of a
university or school (or indeed as a previous
resident of a town or village) your name will be
available to any other registered member on the
site who has registered their name with that
particular school, college, university or hometown.
The only details shown against the university,
school or town, is your name on leaving, the years
you were ther and an option to view your personal
message.
Your email address is not made available on
screen to anyone. The only way of making contact
with an old friend is to use Roastbeef to enter a
message and we will send an email on your behalf.
The recipient will receive your e-mail address with
the message, so that they can reply directly to
you. Clearly, by choosing to contact and old
friend, you are disclosing your e-mail address to
them.
Once registered you will be sent an e-mail with
confirmation of your registration, including your
password. You will also be given a special URL (web
link) that you must visit in order to confirm that
your email address is valid which will fully
activate your membership. Any further email from us
will be as requested from you during registration.
Namely, an optional weekly or monthly update of new
members that have attended your school(s),
university(ies) or have lived in your home town(s).
There is also an optional periodical newsletter of
new features on the site and any other interesting
news or stories related to RoastBeef.co.uk.
If for any reason you want your details removed,
please log in, then click on 'My Profile' and
follow the link at the bottom of the page.
